Healthcare & care tenders in the East of England

The East of England's NHS map was redrawn on 1 April 2026, when Phase 1 of the ICB mergers took effect. Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, Bedfordshire, Luton & Milton Keynes and Hertfordshire were folded into a single Central East ICB covering around 3.5 million people; a new Greater Essex ICB was formed from the old Mid & South Essex footprint plus North East and West Essex; and Norfolk & Suffolk continues as its own board. The clinical estate is anchored by large acute foundation trusts - Cambridge University Hospitals, Norfolk & Norwich University Hospitals, East Suffolk & North Essex, Mid & South Essex, James Paget and Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn - and much of their non-clinical and consumables spend runs through the region's own body, the East of England NHS Collaborative Procurement Hub (EOECPH). Based in the region and part of NHS Procurement in Partnership, EOECPH carries recurring frameworks across medical consumables, pharmaceutical wholesale, temporary staffing and analysis services that a supplier here should watch alongside the national routes - NHS SBS, HealthTrust Europe and NHS Commercial Solutions.

The care side of the market sits with the county councils - Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Hertfordshire - who commission domiciliary care, supported living, care-home placements and children's services largely through dynamic purchasing systems and approved-provider lists rather than one-off tenders. Provider Selection Regime rules now shape how the health commissioners award those clinical and mixed health-and-care services, so bids are read against patient need and continuity as much as price. A lot of the care and quotes work stays on council ProContract portals rather than surfacing on Find a Tender, which is exactly why watching the local systems matters in this region.
